About Benjamin Richards

Benjamin Richards has spent his entire legal career practicing criminal law. During law school, he defended veterans accused of committing crimes in a specialty court. After graduating from law school, he represented Arizona in various misdemeanor matters. Benjamin later became a prosecutor specializing in public benefits fraud at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. That pivotal experience pushed him to focus on helping people, so he has put his prosecutorial experience to use defending individuals accused of committing crimes ever since.

For Benjamin, helping people is the most rewarding part of being a criminal defense attorney.

Benjamin draws from a broad range of experience defending people in all types of cases including misdemeanors, DUIs, drug offenses, felonies, and fraud. He takes pride in listening to people, collaborating with clients, and providing expert legal advice, so that each person he represents is empowered to make the best decisions for themselves. As a former prosecutor, he knows how the State thinks about criminal cases. Benjamin excels at leveraging this insight, swaying prosecutors in persuasive negotiation, and employing targeted litigation—all to get the best possible outcome for each person.

A fourth generation Arizonan, Benjamin earned both his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona. He and his wife, a former student-athlete at the University of Arizona, are avid fans of the Arizona Wildcats, Phoenix Suns, and Phoenix Mercury. Beyond following sports, Benjamin enjoys spending his free time cooking, staying current on the news, and reading non-fiction.
